Help Out A Fellow Etsian

I am helping a fellow Etsian out due to something going on that I am not at liberty to say. Once she gives me the ok I will update you all. She is the owner of ArretsPlace and Zzazz on Etsy along with her shop Zzazz on Artfire. She was there for me when my dad ill in September of 2009 up to his death in May of 2010 and when my grandma passed away in February of 2010. I would like to return the favor in any way possible. I am donating 25% of my sales to her for the expenses that are accruing. Please stop by to take a look at what I have listed in my shop. I will even take custom orders, remember to put down 50% for your order, will work with this. This poor lady has been through a lot in the past few months.

What Is The True Definition of a Great Parent(s)?

This is the common question that always asked among us parents.  Am I being a good parent? Could I have done any better? What could I have done different? Etc. Etc. Etc.  I am one of those parents that always ask myself these questions at least once a week.  Being a parent is a very hard task but a very enjoyable one.  But let me back this up a bit.  What is a true definition as a great parent? I can tell you that the word perfect is no where near this definition.  Being a great parent is doing as much as you can for your child or children without the materialistic items to be involved. You cannot buy your child's happiness or good behavior. Some of us, including me, learned the hard way and try to change that child to understand that materialistic items won't make you that happy.  As a parent you can show them love, happiness, and compassion.  Being there when they need to talk, laughing at their jokes even though they are not that funny, dropping what you like to do or had to get done to do what your kiddos like to do.  Examples are coloring, reading, playing outside or inside, taking them to parks, watching movies at home together, camp out nights in your livingroom, etc. Just those simple things can make a very huge difference in your child or children's lives.

If you have more than one child its very hard to try to do everything you can for each of them. In the past I have learned to set aside times to do things with one child and my husband do things with the other and vice versa. I know that if you are a single parent that this is a little harder.  I once was a single parent and know how hard it was to do things with my little man and work three jobs to pay for things we needed.  But as long as you are there for them and not shove them off cuz you have more important things to do or only thinking of yourself then you are doing awesome.

Just today I received a great compliment when I was getting my hair and eyebrows done. I was told that my boys (ages 11 and 5) are very well behaved and have amazing manners.  I was told by my hair dresser that my husband and I have done a really good job as parents.  Hearing something like that makes you feel amazing and great knowing that those questions are answered by one person's compliment.

Did You Ever................

Did you ever think about what you could do to bring in money over the summer? I have been thinking about it for a awhile now. This summer I put my foot down and I want to see if there is anything out there for people like me that don't make money over the summer. I personally love writing poems or anything from the heart. Writing keeps my mind working. Yes I do have my crafts that I work on but I don't sell much over the summer. I would love to get any information that could help me out for extra income.

Welcome To The Wonderful World of Jodi's Craft Emporium

Good morning everyone! My name is Jodi and I have owned Jodi's Craft Emporium for almost 4 years ( http://www.etsy.com/shop/JodisCraftEmporium ) . I currently crochet dishcloths, dishtowels, appliques, hats, etc. I absolutely love making these awesome items. I have been crafting since I was 14 years old and have done an array of crafts since. I started out on plastic canvas and then it moved to cross-stitch.

I am a 31 year old mother and have been married for almost 7 years to a wonderful man. I have two boys that I love so very much. My oldest is 10 years old and is extremely smart. He is Autistic with PDD-NOS. He was diagnosed 1 month before he turned 2 years old. He has made great strides and lots of improvements. He will be graduating from 5th grade this year. I am so very proud of him. My youngest is 5 years old and is a ball of energy. He loves playing outside and loves taking after his older brother. He loves to read and watch cartoons.

I am currently a 1:1 Teacher's Aide in our city's school district and have been there for 3 years. I love what I do and go home with a feeling of accomplishment knowing that I had a hand in helping a child(ren) with their educational needs.

I would like to welcome everyone here and will be keeping this updated daily. Have an awesome day.
